Become a crew member at GoBoat Copenhagen

At GoBoat, we are currently putting together the perfect team for the 2026 season in Copenhagen. When you work at GoBoat, you become part of our family, where we work hard and go the extra mile. Team spirit and socializing are important parts of the job. We are committed to ensuring that everyone is happy, so that together we can give our guests the best experience through our various electric boat experiences, with or without a captain.

We hold several social events such as rundbold, bingo, a big party in September, and our end-of-season celebration abroad, plus impromptu festive events. In addition, we offer courses in de-escalation and good cooperation/feedback, among other things.

Who is GoBoat

GoBoat was launched in Copenhagen in 2014 with the aim of making the water accessible to everyone. We strive to provide unique experiences and unforgettable memories on the water through various experiences in electric boats.

At GoBoat, we respect our surroundings, which is why we treat the water with care. As daily users of the harbor, we have a responsibility to help keep it clean. GoBoat was therefore founded with a focus on sustainability, which is reflected in everything from our electric motors on the boats, the solar cells that help charge them, and the wood used to build both the pavilion at Islands Brygge and the tables on the boats, as well as our selection of organic products.

We have rentals located all over the world, including Aarhus, London, Washington, Berlin, and Sydney. We are best known for our blue electric boats, which guests sail themselves, but we also offer larger boats with a captain. In addition, we offer our version of a canal tour in electric boats with room for 9 people—an intimate canal tour where the captain also acts as a guide.

Who we are looking for

At GoBoat, we are looking for energetic personalities who want to help spread maritime vibes with charm and good karma. You will be the face of GoBoat that our guests meet when they go sailing. You must be welcoming and smiling, but also able to enforce the rules. You will be a big reason why guests give us 5 stars.

You are enthusiastic and ready to give it your all in a workplace where you are outside 90% of the time (perfect when the sun is high in the sky). We send thousands of guests out on the water every year, so it is essential that you are good with people and not afraid of a little small talk.

If, like us, you love being on the water and enjoy being outdoors, then apply for the job! Maybe you are taking a gap year, or perhaps you are just looking for a student or part-time job.

General qualifications and competencies

  • You are reliable
  • You are sociable and can talk to anyone.
  • You can communicate in Danish and English, as we have many international guests (other languages are also an advantage).
  • You work well with others and value a strong community highly.
  • It is not a requirement, but an advantage if you have knowledge of boats and the maritime environment.
  • You must be service-minded and always ensure that our guests have the best experience possible.
  • Don't be afraid to upsell to our guests so they get the best experience possible.
  • It sounds like a cliché, but it's important to keep a cool head in stressful situations. On summer days, things move quickly, and you have to run fast without compromising the customer experience.

Various work tasks

All employees must be able to work as deck crew, sending guests out onto the water. That is the foundation. In addition, you may be selected as captain on our canal tour, assist with customer service, or help our marketing team create content for social media, for example. These different tasks will allow you to develop in the job. Please indicate in your application which tasks suit you best—your manager will make the final decision.

Deck crew tasks (everyone must be able to do this):

  • Send guests safely onto the water in Copenhagen Harbor
  • Preparation and cleaning of boats, as well as our dock and pavilion
  • Check-in of guests via our booking system
  • Sell drinks and snacks to guests
  • Briefing on boat handling, safety, sailing routes, and rules before our guests are sent out on the water
  • Throughout the year, we hold a number of events that you will help to organize.
  • Dealing with guests in all situations – good and bad.

Captain/guide duties

  • Want to work independently on board your “own” boat?
  • You tell your guests about Copenhagen while sailing the boat. You are their guide!
  • Interest in sailing. A speedboat license is an advantage. If you don't have one, we will make sure you get one.
  • Technical skills are a big plus, as they help solve any challenges on board (we will, of course, teach you about our boats).
  • The ability to make quick decisions and handle emergencies calmly, ensuring a positive experience at all times.

Customer service tasks

  • Assist customers who call the customer service hotline
  • Responding to customer inquiries via email
  • Share insights from customer inquiries with the rest of the organization to improve the experience
  • Being able to find solutions for customers so that they feel well treated - even when they don't get their way
  • Customer service work takes place at the office in Bryggen, where you typically work a few hours before/after working as deck crew.
  • You must be able to write in English and Danish (preferably more languages)
  • You will receive support from our skilled customer service specialist.

Content creation / marketing tasks

  • You love social media and keep up with the latest trends
  • You enjoy standing in front of your cell phone camera to create inspiring, fun, and behind-the-scenes content (including voiceovers).
  • You have experience editing videos/images (e.g., Capcut).
  • You have good ideas but can also execute on other people's ideas.
  • Typically, you create content together with your crew colleagues, devised in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • You understand that a company's social media and your own social media cannot always show the same content.
  • If you are interested in this part, please send links to any previous content you have created.

The practicalities

  • We expect you to be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays—in other words, at times when others have time off. In return, we guarantee a workplace with great energy, social events, and the opportunity to develop new friendships. You will also have the opportunity to sail for free at selected times.
  • We are looking for crew members for both part-time and full-time positions, but you must be able to work at least 10 days per month, most of which will be evenings and weekends.
  • The position is seasonal. We are open all year round, but our season runs from March 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026—the number of hours will vary depending on whether it is low or high season.
  • The workplace is at our base in Islands Brygge.
  • The job is hourly paid at 140 kr + vacation pay
  • You must be at least 17 years old (18 years old as captain)
  • Start-up will be ongoing from March 1, but you must be able to complete 2 to 4 days of training over Easter between April 1 and April 10. However, we are also looking for employees who can start as early as February.
  • You may not have vacation plans lasting more than 5 consecutive days during the industry vacation period.

We would like you to start by the end of March 2026 at the latest. We are conducting interviews on an ongoing basis, so hurry up and send in your application. You will start with training and some trial lessons, where you will learn the job.

We look forward to hearing from you!
