FAQ: Classic GoBoat, GoBoat Cruise, Harbor Tours and GoBoat Pod

We are often fully booked, and we therefore recommend you book in advance to make sure you get a boat. You can book here.

But you are always welcome to come by our locations to see if we have openings.

Without cancellation protection, you can change your booking or receive a voucher for the full amount until 24 hours before departure. The voucher is valid for 12 months. A refund is not available.

With cancellation protection, you can receive a refund, change your booking or receive a voucher until 24 hours before departure. The protection fee of DKK 129 per boat is non-refundable.

Use the link in your booking confirmation for changes and vouchers. To request a refund with cancellation protection, submit the form in your confirmation no later than 24 hours before departure. This cannot be handled by phone.

With less than 24 hours until departure, your booking cannot be changed, refunded or exchanged for a voucher.

Food from Green Island and TS Smørrebrød is non-refundable. You can collect it at the originally booked time, even if your boat trip has been cancelled.

The 14 days right of cancellation does not apply to GoBoat bookings as per § 18, number 2 and 3 of the Consumer Contracts Act.

Yes. Choose the booking with cancellation protection when you book your boat. Protection costs DKK 129 per boat and allows a refund until 24 hours before departure. It cannot be added after booking, and the protection fee is non-refundable.

Our prices differ based on the date, time and location. Low season and weekdays or mornings are often the cheapest. Please check our booking system for accurate, up to date pricing based on your desired date, time and location.

Please be aware that we offer two prices - one with a refund possibility while the other only allows for a voucher if you need to cancel. The flexible one has a bit higher price.

You can book a boat on our booking website. Please choose:
Location -> number of boats (each boat fits 8 people) -> number of hours -> date -> time -> your details -> payment by creditcard.

We offer various discounts. The longer time you rent a boat, the lower the price is per hour. Remember to divide the price by how many people you go out sailing to know the price per person. We do not offer discounts on booking multiple boats.

Please arrive 15 minutes before departure to ensure that there is time for safety and sailing instructions. Remember to show up at the right location for your booking.

If you show up late, you still need to return the boat at the same time so the next guests don't have to wait.

Each of our locations have possibilities for parking
Copenhagen: It is possible to find public parking places on Islands Brygge and the on the nearby streets.
Aarhus: At Aarhus Ø you can park at the Navitas parking lot.

Copenhagen: GoBoat has no toilets of its own at Islands Brygge. You can use the toilets at Islands Brygge Kulturhus, including in winter. Please use the toilet before departure.

Aarhus: There is no toilet at our base. A public toilet is located between GoBoat and Domen.

Copenhagen: We have a defibrillator in our pavilion at GoBoat Islands Brygge 10.
Aarhus: At BESTSELLER at Inge Lehmannsgade 2. It’s located right of the main entrance to BESTSELLER on the building with the stairs down to the parking basement.

You can find the nearest defibrillator on your sailing route here or download the app TrygFonden Hjertestart.

For all our locations we advise that you must be able to get in and out of the boats yourself, of course our staff will always be around to offer a hand. However, we don’t currently have any accessibility ramps.
At Island Brygge and Copenhagen we do offer to sail the boat to the end of the bride where it is easiest to board. This is subject to crew capacity and availability. In Aarhus it is difficult for People with mobility challenges to enter the dock in 2025 at our temporary location.

Copenhagen: Yes, we have a wide selection of beverages and snacks that can be ordered online or bought before departure when checking in.

You can also buy food in our online shop. As a part of the experience you sail to Green Island to get the food. It takes about 5 minutes to sail from GoBoat to Green Island.

Aarhus: From Fyrtårnet (our bar) you can buy different beverages. 

Classic boats have no cover. Dress for the weather. You can borrow blankets for free and buy biodegradable ponchos.

It is still safe to sail in thunder and lightning. Our crew assess the conditions and decide whether a trip needs to be changed or cancelled. Strong winds can slow the boats down, so you may not be able to travel as far.

If we cancel your trip, you can choose to rebook, receive a voucher or get a refund. We will contact you as soon as possible. If you choose to cancel, the normal cancellation terms apply.

Unfortunately it is not possible to get food from food services (Just Eat, Wolt etc.) delivered to any of our addresses.
Instead you can make a stop along your sail to receive the food there. Make sure that you agree on a place where it is allowed to dock the boat.

A Classic GoBoat carries a maximum of eight people, including children and babies. This limit always applies. Larger groups can book several boats.

Yes. Life jackets are included in the price.
Life jackets for adults are located in the storage compartment on the boat. We also have life jackets for children and babies. When you fill out your boarding pass, we ask you hold old any children in the boat are so we can reserve life jackets for them. Or please ask the crew as these are stored on land.

Yes. We have life jackets down to 5 kg. Children and baby life jackets are found on land. When you fill out your boarding pass, we ask you hold old any children in the boat are so we can reserve life jackets for them.

No sailing licence or experience is needed. The person booking must be at least 18, and the person steering must remain sober throughout the trip. Our crew show you how to operate the boat before departure. Arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for the instructions.

Yes, you can bring your own food and drinks. There is a large table in the middle of the boat that makes it easy to enjoy food on board.

Please note that this is NOT allowed when you sail with a captain in our Cruise experiences. But on GoBoat Classic where you sail yourself, it is of course allowed.

You can also order from us online when you book. Then we'll have your drinks and snacks ready for you at departure time.

No. A part of the experience is to sail the boat yourselves and to be your own captain. But check out our GoBoat Cruise concept in luxury boats with a captain if you prefer a captain.

No. We only have one type of boat with room for 8 persons. The boat has a table in the middle so it is possible to enjoy food and drinks on board.

For safety reasons some areas of the water are not accessible by GoBoat. Check our maps to see which areas are allowed to sail through and which are not. The areas marked with red a prohibited. Maps are available for Copenhagen and Aarhus.

Please be aware that we reserve the right to close certain areas for sailing if conditions require us to. For example for safety or if the harbor administration closes an area for various reasons.

No, we do not store personal belongings. Remember to only bring what you can bring on board. GoBoat disclaims any liability for personal belongings taken onboard – including electronics, clothing parts, etc.

At Copenhagen, Islands Brygge, you can borrow a chain lock for your stroller, baby carriage, and the like, so you can lock them to a bicycle rack nearby.

If you return after your booking ends, you will be charged a late-return fee for each started 15-minute period.

Returning late also delays the next guests. Please return on time. If you are unsure how far you can sail, ask our crew before departure.

We sail during the day when it's light. But on the late departures, you may sail after sunset. There's no problem with that. The crew will make sure you get light on the boat at departure. Make sure to keep your eyes and ears extra open - just like when driving after dark.

Passengers may drink beer, wine and ready-to-drink alcoholic drinks, with a maximum of two units per person. Spirits are not allowed. The person steering must remain sober throughout the trip.

Show consideration for others on the water and along the harbour. We may refuse intoxicated guests without a refund.

We may confiscate spirits and excessive quantities of alcohol. These will be returned after the trip.

No, it is not allowed to smoke hookah onboard.

However, we do allow smoking cigarettes. It is important that butts are not thrown in the water or in the boat to preserve our aquatic environment and ensure a clean and pleasant experience for everyone.

The person booking the boat must be at least 18 years old. There is no age limit for the other guests.

Yes, you can. We love dogs on the boats. However, we have no life jackets for dogs so dogs are brought onto the boat at your own risk.

No. We would like to make the water accessible to everybody, but due to bad behavior and complaints we unfortunately no longer allow bachelor/bachelorette parties.

We reserve the right to refuse bachelor/bachelorette parties prior to departure even though the experience is booked and paid. All guests who are drunk upon arrival to the GoBoat rental station will be refused access to our boats and no refunds will be provided.

No, customers are not permitted to go swimming from the boat as it’s a danger to yourself and the other users of the harbor. We recommend that you go for a swim either before or after your sail with GoBoat.

No, external speakers are not allowed on the boat. We must be mindful of our neighbors and the surrounding traffic in the harbor. We reserve the right to confiscate speakers until the sail is ended.

Yes. All our boats are insured. However, you as the renter are responsible for what happens to the boat and your actions on the water. If you damage a GoBoat or part of it or if you damage other peoples boats or other property, you must pay the self-risk (deductible) of up to 4.000 DKK which depends on the severity of the damage.

the insurance does not cover your personal things lost or damaged. We recommend you have your own insurance coverage.
