Frequently asked questions for GoBoat Cruise

Please be aware that this FAQ is ONLY for GoBoat Cruise (with a captain) - not the GoBoat picnic boats where you are your own captain. Find the FAQ for the GoBoat picnic boats here. We've divided the questions into several topics based on your situation, e.g. questions about booking and cancelations, about what to do before sailing, about what to do during sailing and about the rules of sailing and the waters. All the FAQs are based on our terms which has all the fine print. You can also use the search field to quickly find an answer.

Booking and Cancellation of GoBoat Cruise

Can I get a GoBoat Cruise without having booked in advance?

We are often fully booked, and we therefore recommend you book in advance to make sure you get a boat. You can book here.
But you are always welcome to come by our location to see if we have openings.

How do I cancel my GoBoat Cruise booking?

You can choose to rebook or receive the full amount until 5 days (120 hours) before departure. In your order confirmation email you’ll find a link to edit your booking. Please do this yourself.

You can cancel your booking and get a refund until 5 days days before departure. This can't be done automatically. Please read your confirmation email on how to get the refund. The process usually takes 10 working days.

If there is less than 5 days to your trip (120 hours), you cannot rebook nor get the full amount refunded.

The 14 days right of cancellation does not apply to GoBoat Cruise bookings as per § 18, number 2 and 3 of the Consumer Contracts Act.

Does GoBoat Cruise offer a cancellation warranty?

No, currently we do not offer a cancellation warranty for GoBoat Cruise bookings.

How much does renting GoBoat Cruise cost?

Our normal pricing is:
1 hour: 1999 dkk
2 hours: 3899 dkk
3 hours: 5799 dkk

Please check our booking system for accurate, up to date pricing based on your desired date and time. The price excludes drinks and snacks that must be bought through GoBoat Cruise (you can't bring your own). The price includes pickup and drop off at Sluseholmen - if you want to be picked up or dropped off at another pre set location, there is an extra charge.

How do I book a GoBoat Cruise online?

You can book a boat on our booking website. Please choose:
Location --> number of boats (each boat fits 9 people) --> number of hours --> date --> time --> pick up and drop off locations --> your data --> drinks and snacks --> payment by credit card.

Can I get a discount renting GoBoat Cruise?

We offer various discounts. The longer time you rent a boat, the lower the price is per hour. Remember to divide the price by how many people you go out sailing to know the price per person. We do not offer discounts on booking multiple boats.

How many boats do you have?

In Copenhagen, at Sluseholmen we have 3 boats. You can book 1 or more boats depending on how many people you are.
All of our boats fit 9 people + the GoBoat Cruise captain, including children and babies.

I can see that you are fully booked. Can I get on a waiting list?

No, unfortunately not. Be sure to book in advance.

Can I make a larger booking for a company or private event?

Yes we offer different solutions that meet your needs. Read more here.

Before sailing with GoBoat Cruise

How early should I arrive for my booking?

Please arrive 5 minutes before departure to ensure that there is time for safety and instructions. Remember to show up at the right location for your booking.

If you show up late, the captain will still return the boat at the original drop off time so the next guests don't have to wait.

Where can I park?

It is possible to find paid public parking places near Sluseholmen and the on the nearby streets. Get an overview of parking spaces via this Google Maps map.

Is it possible to use a bathroom before departure?

For the best experience we suggest you go to the bathroom before departure. However, we can stop at various places in the harbor so you can go on land near by a bathroom. Please ask your captain.

Where is the nearest defibrillator?

You can find the nearest defibrillator at Thad Jones vej 12, St, 2450, a few minutes away from our home location. It's open 24 hours.

Do I have to show a corona passport to go sailing?

No it’s not necessary. We encourage anyone with Corona symptoms to stay home.

Is GoBoat Cruise handicap friendly?

For all our locations we advise that you must be able to get in and out of the boats yourself, of course our staff will always be around to offer a hand. However, we don’t currently have any accessibility ramps.

Can I buy beverages and snacks at GoBoat Cruise?

Yes, we have a wide selection of beverages and snacks that can be ordered online or bought before departure when checking in. From May to September, you can also buy food (tapas for 4 pax, pizza slices or sandwiches) in our online shop. As a part of the experience we'll sail to Green Island to get the food.

You are NOT allowed to bring your own drinks and snack on board. Please talk to your captain before departure.

Can I bring my own beverages and snacks?

Sorry, no. Just as in a restaurant you are not allowed to bring your own drinks and snacks. We recommend you order your drinks and snacks when booking your boat. Then the captain will have everything ready for you when you arrive. Otherwise, you can still buy extra before departure and if space permits, we'll have a few drinks and snacks onboard for sale.

If you are very keen on bringing your own wine, we offer this with a corkage fee of 250 dkk. Please contact us before hand for this.

What if it rains, is windy or there is thunder ?

Our boats have a rain cover that we'll put on. This covers the area where you sit. Of course as always in rainy weather, we can't guarantee that you stay totally dry at all times.

We recommend you wear waterproof clothing or bring an umbrella, in the wind permits it. We also sell biodegradable rain ponchos.
If there is thunder or lightening, our operations will still run as it is still considered safe to sail.

However, if it is windy, the boats will need more power to move and so will sail a little slower, meaning we won’t be able to sail as far. 
In the case of powerful winds, we reserve the right to cancel your trip, this is a safety precaution. In this instance you choose whether you would like to rebook, get a voucher, or a refund. We will try to give you as much warning as possible and call you on the day of your sail.

During the GoBoat Cruise trip

How many people can be in a GoBoat Cruise?

The GoBoat Cruise boats have a maximum capacity of 9 persons plus the captain. This number also includes children and babies. There are NO exemptions to this ever. Some people call or write us to ask for an exemption. This never happens. So please don't ask.

Are life jackets included in the price?

Yes. Life jackets are included in the price.
Life jackets for adults are located in the storage compartment on the boat. We also have life jackets for children and babies. Please ask the captain as these are stored on land

Does renting or sailing a GoBoat Cruise require a certificate or license?

No, it does not. The GoBoat Cruise experience includes a captain so nobody needs to drive the boat.

We will instruct you on how to behave aboard before you leave (therefore, you must be at our location 15 min prior to departure) and we'll send instructions by email when you book

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Sorry, no. Just as in a restaurant you are not allowed to bring your own drinks and snacks. We recommend you order your drinks and snacks when booking your boat. Then the captain will have everything ready for you when you arrive. Otherwise, you can still buy extra before departure and if space permits, we'll have a few drinks and snacks onboard for sale.

Is it possible to get someone to sail the GoBoat Cruise for us?

Yes, the captain is included in the booking (unlike the GoBoat picnic boats where you are the captain). The Cruise captain will make your trip the best!

Are there different boat sizes?

No. We only have one type of boat with room for 9 persons. The boat has a table you can sit around and sunbeds in the rear as well as a stair to get out of the water if you want to go swimming.

Are we allowed to sail in all areas of the harbor?

For safety reasons some sailing areas are not accessible by GoBoat Cruise. Our captain knows all the rules.

Please be aware that we reserve the right to close certain areas for sailing if conditions require us to. For example for safety or if the harbor administration closes an area for various reasons.

Do you have a storage where we can put our stuff while sailing?

No, we do not store personal belongings outside the boat. Remember to only bring what you can bring on board. GoBoat disclaims any liability for personal belongings taken onboard – including electronics, clothing parts, etc.

Rules on GoBoat Cruise boats

Are we allowed to drink alcoholic beverages onboard?

Yes, all passengers may consume alcohol. You can have a great event on board. We do ask for good behavior.

We reserve the right to reject very drunk guests before departure or during the trip. Drunk guests won’t receive any refund. Remember, that the harbor is a public and busy place. Many residents live close to the harbor and the canals. And safety is most important - yours and everyone else's
Show respect and responsibility whenever you are in the harbor.

Is it allowed to smoke hookah onboard?

No, it is not allowed to smoke hookah onboard. However, we do allow smoking cigarettes. It is important that cigarette butts are not thrown in the water or in the boat to preserve our aquatic environment and ensure a clean and pleasant experience for everyone.

How old do you have to be in order to book the boat?

The person who books must be 18 years old. There is no age restriction on being a passenger in the boat. However, if you want to buy alcohol you must be 18 years of age. The captain will check, so please remember a valid ID.

From where do we depart?

Yes, you can choose to depart from Frederikskaj 2 (included in the price) or 6 other locations at an extra cost for a different departure point. This can be added in the booking system.

Where can we be dropped off?

Yes, you can choose between being dropped off at Frederikskaj 2(included in the price) or 6 other locations at an extra cost as the drop off point. This can be added in the booking system.

Can I bring my dog on the boat?

Yes, you can. We love dogs on the boats. However, we have no life jackets for dogs so dogs are brought onto the boat at your own risk.

Are bachelor/bachelorette parties accepted?

Yes, we welcome you! You can book directly in our booking system. Remember that drinks and snacks must be purchased through GoBoat Cruise as described above.

Is it allowed to go swimming from the boat?

Yes you are allowed to go swimming from the boat a selected areas. Please ask the captain for recommendations. The boat is equipped with a ladder going into the water so it's easy to get into the boat again. Please bring your own towels and bathing clothing.

Are there speakers onboard?

Yes, the boat has built in speakers so you can listen to your favorite songs from any streaming service via Bluetooth.

Are the boats insured?

Yes, they are. All our boats are insured. As a renter, you are responsible for your behavior and yourselves. The sailing itself is the responsibility of GoBoat as long as you follow the rules and the captain's instructions. If you damage a GoBoat or part of it, or if you damage other people's boats or other property, you must pay the deductible of up to DKK 4.000 depending on the extent of the damage.
The insurance does not cover your personal belongings that are lost or damaged.

We recommend that you have your own liability and personal insurance.
